Changes to Health and Safety at Work (Jersey) Law Come Into Force

Changes to the Health and Safety at Work (Jersey) Law 1989 have now come into force in Jersey.

Article 3(2) of the Health and Safety at Work (Jersey) Law has been amended to include Article 3(2)(aa), which specifically requires employers to identify and assess the risks to the health and safety of their employees.  This amendment comes into force on the 12th March 2010.

Article 3(3) has been also been amended.  Employers are now required to record and assess significant risks and the action taken to address them and to ensure that the company's written health and safety policy statement is prepared and brought to the attention of all employees in a lanaguage which they understand.  The changes to Article 3(3) come into force on the 5th June 2010.
